We've established this week that God doesn't need a Defender - but we see brokenness all around us in the world, so what do we do? How do we represent God?
A few years ago, a gentleman (Gene Halterman) at our church led our Wednesday evening service and he told a story that I've always remembered. He said he'd been in a golf league for about a year when he was approached by another member who said, "I've been watching you and I can tell you're a Christian. Would you mind leading the prayer for our reception?"
What does that look like???!!! I mean, he didn't say he'd been listening to him and he wasn't stalking him around town (I assume). He WATCHED him ON THE GOLF COURSE. How does one LOOK like a Christian ON A GOLF COURSE?
I was amazed, bewildered, and blown away. And it makes me wonder what people see when they look at me on the "golf course" of my life. What should people see?
Whatcha got for me? We're in this series. We're talking about all the different perceptions of what it looks like to be a Christian. How do YOU represent Him? How do you expect others to?
Here's maybe the truest test: How do you identify Christ in others?
Have a blessed Thursday, my friend. I'm enjoying this week with you!
Love,
Laurie
